About/Profile | Mohammad Maqsood Graduated from University of Peshawar 1985. He acquired his basic surgical training from teaching Hospitals Abbottabad and RGH Rawalpindi Pakistan. He moved to United Kingdom for higher surgical training in 1989. He got FRCS (RCPS. Glasgow )1992. He entered in higher surgical training Yorkshire programme and acquired FRCS Tr & Ortho in 1999. He travelled to Germany and acquired AO fellowship from Regensberg University. He joined as consultant Tr & Orthopaedic surgeon at Lincoln county Hospital Lincoln in 1992. He established himself as general Orthopaedic surgeon performing upper limb as well as lower limb surgery, that is why lot of research papers published around shoulder and wrists surgery as well around knees and hip surgery. He limited himself to lower limb surgery as specialised culture developed and special interest in Hips and knee Arthroplasty and ligament reconstructions. He has done lot of work on articular cartilage repair and took part in National ACI and MACI cartilage repair trails. He joined AO UK/international as faculty in 2004 and took part in teaching AO principal courses for surgeons and ORP since then. He acted as BOA Linkman for Yorkshire for 8 years. He was appointed as Regional advisers for East Midland for Royal college of physicians and surgeon Glasgow for 3 years and now extended for another 3 years. He took responsibility of Clinical Director for his department, established vibrant trauma unit at LCH, and Bone bank linked with Leiscter Tissue Bank. He worked as lead for NHFD for 10 years. He acted as lMDD-module Lead for students travelling from Leiscter Nottingham any Derby. He was conferred as visiting professor Tr & Orthopaedic surgery at university of Lincoln. He lead many research projects in the university and acted as supervisor for PhD students, few students acquired PHD on his research projects. Other than local research, like Effect smoking on fracture healing at cellular and molecular level, Autologous blood injection treating Tendoachilles tendinitis, He took part in Many national portfolio studies including, TOPKAT and ProHFer studies. He is examiner for IMRCS Part B, OSCE for Royal of surgeon for the last 10 years. He took part in writing exam questions for MRCS. He received praise letter form House of Commons twice for innovative research work on Cartilage repair, effect of smoking on Fracture healing and Autologous Blood injection for tendoachilles Tendinopathies. He is keen teacher and trainer and researcher. He regularly travels to his homeland KASHMIR Pakistan to run workshops for surgeons and free medical camps to treat poor and needy patients free of cost. |
